Wischnewski in Iran’s North (in September 2022)

Hello all!

Visiting Iran was one more highlight of our trip… How will it really be over there, in Persia?

Very funny is that there is a great way to get in contact with Iranians: you just have to have an issue with your truck :-0 When you are parking at the side of the road, you can bet that it will not take longer than 5 minutes that an Iranian shows up to offer help and to make sure that things get fixed. It worked every time for us (we once had a flat tire, a malfunctioning sensor and a clogged diesel filter…). All issues solved by help of Iranian people who just stopped by, …and helped. And when the job at the truck is done you can be sure that you will be invited for dinner at the home of the person that helped you. …and don’t even think that it could be yourself to offer an invitation for a dinner or so (as a thank you, since they helped you). The Iranians really like to bring visitors (especially Westerners) to their home. Having guests from Europe is exiting for them and surely also a kind of exotic event in their family life. And be sure that every Iranian tells you sooner or later that: ‘please understand that we are the people and not the regime’. It always was of big relevance for them that we took this message with us: ‘the Iranian people are great, the regime is not…’.

So now enjoy some pictures of the north of Iran.

Wischnewski took it easy in Armenia (in July 2022)

Hello all!

it is more than one year ago when we drove through Armenia. The plan was ‘to take it easy’ since the temperatures in summer can be very hot even in the mountain regions of Armenia. So, we mostly enjoyed the beautiful scenery around us. And as it became too warm, we checked in at ‘3G camping’ in Goght, close to Yerevan. Arrived, we enjoyed the refreshing pool and the relaxing environment.

Wischnewski in Georgia

After almost 3 months in (very pleasant) Turkey, Georgia gave us a relatively big change: it was interesting to see & feel coming back to a ‘christian based’ country. Georgia was also very pleasant even if it is almost impossible to compare to Turkey (exception: the great hospitality and the great friendly people). One of the most obvious differences was, that instead of ‘tea’ (cai) the Georgians offer you ‘Caca’ (the mostly home made ‘Grappa’). So alcohol became a much more visible topic… :-0 It was not only one invitation that we got in Georgia where afterwards we had to stagger home. The food – of course – also had different shapes, now again having pork meat on the table (yummy!).

Some more of Turkey: Now we travel the ‘east’

Hello all!
today we make our last pictures from Turkey available. This is remarkable since last year we visited the region in the east of Turkey that recently was so hardly hit by an earthquake. Too sad that so many people of that region got injured or even killed, so sad!!!

We were very impressed of that part of Turkey that – from our perspective – was the ‘real Turkey’. The closer we came to the borders to Syria, Irak, Georgia and Iran the greater the mix of people became: Kurdish, Turkish, Georgian, Armenian people did flow together, all proud of their culture and roots, nobody interested in political motivated conflicts, all only interested in their own pleasant life and the life of family & friends. What is communicated as ‘big problems between cultural backgrounds of people’ in the media does surely exist but no doubt that conflicts are not easy to find, not so widely spread and surely not that vital.

East of Turkey, very enjoyable and again dominated of great hospitality of all people that we met, all instantly ready to give and to share whatever they had…

Turkey: We travel the ‘South’

It is now some weeks ago that we entered Turkey (when I am precise I must say it is now 11 months ago :-0 … I must confess the blog writing could not become a priority since there is to much work @ business…).
Back to Turkey: Travelling in a caravan through Turkey is a great way to get closer to culture and people. Whenever Wischnewski (not we ;-)) is spotted, people come to welcome us. Usually this is accompanied by an invitation for a tea or lunch/ dinner. And often people just bring fruits, food or whatever they have available… Very friendly and honestly, real hospitality from real people with the friendliest intentions. That always felt very good, and we really became fans of Turkey! What we could not really imagine is traveling to Turkey for a ‘standard touristic vacation’ in a club or so, in a group, what you see often at the cost, those big hotels with big busses and big groups running around between the hotel buffet, the beach and bus-tours that transport them to the central sights of Turkey. That way you have only a little chance to get to know the ‘real Turkey’… Being able to travel ‘on the little roads, in the little villages, far away from standard-touristic activities” is a BIG advantage! Thanks to Wischnewski 🙂
