Visiting Iran for the third time (January 2025)

Hello all!

Our general idea for Iran was to visit some (few) cities and do some repairs at the truck. That way we visited Zahedan, Bam, Kerman, Yazd, Isfahan and Tabriz. After long weeks with bad air in North-India and in Pakistan (smog, everywhere) it was like wellness to breath the fresh air in the mountain regions in the south of Iran. That was unexpected, …but so nice!

The Iranian technicians are well-known to be very handy and to find solutions for all kinds of technical problems. So we could fix a long list of things in Isfahan supported by a new friend ‚Vrezh“ (from Brother Overlander Workshop). Now we have an AC in the driver cabin, what a luxury! Impressiv to experience how the workshops and technicians work in Iran. You don’t have to make appointments, you just show up and they begin to work, very pragmatic. In Germany we would have needed a least 2 months to fix all the things that we got fixed in Iran during 1,5 weeks (and I guess we only paid 25% of what we would have paid in Germany).

During our first 2 visits of Iran we found some new Iranian friends. So this time we had the pleasure to visit some of them in Isfahan: Simin & Jakob with their wonderful family. That was a great experience to be so close to a local family.

It was nice to be back in Iran, and it will not be the last time to be in that wonderful country with it’s wonderful people!

Greetings from
Heike and Carsten

Wischnewski again in Iran (Devember 2023): Dezful, Shiraz and the Luth desert

Hello all!

Christmas 2023 was of a different kind: we did not travel back home to Germany since we have been there already twice in 2023. Our travel family got bigger since Nuria & Antonio did join our group in Iran. The plan was to celebrate Christmas and New Year together in Iran and then travel together in a convoy of 3 trucks to India via Pakistan.

After travelling more than one year in the Arabic world (and we loved that very much!) Iran was a very refreshing world. Persia for us is a much more liberal world where Europeans have a much easier time to get around since the rules are not so strict and the life on the street feels much more familiar for us. Maybe it is only the fact that Iranian women take a normal part of everyday’s life (you can see them, you can talk to them) what makes the difference. We felt very welcome and we were very happy to be able to get back to Iran for a second time!

So enjoy some impressions from Iran!

Best wishes from
Heike and Carsten

Wischnewski in Iran’s South (in October 2022)

Hello all!

in the South of Iran it was a very special event to drive into the desert ‚Lut‘ (the hottest desert on planet earth). We had (brand new) good friends with us, forming a beautiful ‚travel family‘ for many weeks, starting with the trip through Lut.

Wischnewski in Iran’s North (in September 2022)

Hello all!

Visiting Iran was one more highlight of our trip… How will it really be over there, in Persia?

Very funny is that there is a great way to get in contact with Iranians: you just have to have an issue with your truck :-0 When you are parking at the side of the road, you can bet that it will not take longer than 5 minutes that an Iranian shows up to offer help and to make sure that things get fixed. It worked every time for us (we once had a flat tire, a malfunctioning sensor and a clogged diesel filter…). All issues solved by help of Iranian people who just stopped by, …and helped. And when the job at the truck is done you can be sure that you will be invited for dinner at the home of the person that helped you. …and don’t even think that it could be yourself to offer an invitation for a dinner or so (as a thank you, since they helped you). The Iranians really like to bring visitors (especially Westerners) to their home. Having guests from Europe is exiting for them and surely also a kind of exotic event in their family life. And be sure that every Iranian tells you sooner or later that: ‚please understand that we are the people and not the regime‘. It always was of big relevance for them that we took this message with us: ‚the Iranian people are great, the regime is not…‘.

So now enjoy some pictures of the north of Iran.
Best wishes from Heike and Carsten
